Comedian Kim Jeong-ryeol has confessed to a bizarre lie he told in the past to refuse a request from his close colleague and fellow trainee, Lee Kyung-kyu.

Kim Jeong-ryeol reveals the mother-in-law lie that dodged two favors

On the 8th, during the MBN broadcast of 'Kim Ju-ha's Day and Night', Kim Jeong-ryeol spoke about his relationship with Lee Kyung-kyu, a fellow member of the 1st generation of MBC open recruitment. Kim Jeong-ryeol explained that he had not grown distant from Lee Kyung-kyu, but rather had to make an unavoidable choice due to the circumstances at the time.

The situation began when Lee Kyung-kyu was producing the film 'Boksu Hyeoljeon'. At that time, Lee Kyung-kyu requested Kim Jeong-ryeol to act as a guarantor using a building as collateral. Kim Jeong-ryeol owned a building under joint ownership with his parents-in-law, but faced a difficult request and sought advice from his colleague Seo Seung-man. Seo Seung-man advised him, "You bought it with your parents-in-law, so tell him you already sold it," and Kim Jeong-ryeol subsequently refused Lee Kyung-kyu's request by saying, "It is under joint ownership, but my parents-in-law sold the building."

The "Mother-in-law Excuse" That Worked the Same Way on Hwang Ki-soon

This lie was extended to another colleague as well. Hwang Ki-soon, who debuted as part of the 2nd generation of MBC open recruitment in 1982, appeared on the broadcast. Kim Jeong-ryeol recalled that he used the exact same excuse with Hwang Ki-soon in the past.

At the time, Hwang Ki-soon was also in a situation where he needed a guarantor while purchasing a vehicle and had asked Kim Jeong-ryeol for a guarantee. At that moment, Kim Jeong-ryeol refused by saying the same thing he told Lee Kyung-kyu: "I want to do it for you, but my parents-in-law sold the building." Kim Jeong-ryeol revealed his past where he used the same logic to refuse everything from Lee Kyung-kyu's film production guarantee request to Hwang Ki-soon's vehicle purchase guarantee request.

Kim Jeong-ryeol, who debuted as part of the 1st generation of MBC open recruitment in 1981, shared that 7 out of the 14 members of the 1st generation, including his colleagues Lee Kyung-kyu, Choi Yang-rak, Eom Young-soo, and Kim Bohwa, are still active.
