Young K bets everything on YOUNGEST after 15 months on the road
DAY6's Young K returns with 2nd solo album YOUNGEST, a 15-track release he wrote and composed while touring and filming.
DAY6's Young K has returned with his 2nd solo full-length album, 'YOUNGEST,' after 2 years and 10 months. Set for release at 6 p.m. on the 27th, Young K participated in the writing and composing of every track on this album.

During a round interview held at the JW Marriott Dongdaemun in Jongno-gu, Seoul, on the 22nd, Young K revealed the album production process. "I bet everything on this album. I felt like there was no turning back," he stated, expressing his determination for the release.
This album consists of a total of 15 songs. Despite his agency's suggestion to adjust the number of tracks, Young K did not back down, saying, "Even if I kept cutting them down, I wanted to keep 15 songs. I wanted to make a full and 'fat' album." The work continued for approximately 15 months, and he continued working on songs even inside cars and airplanes while balancing DAY6 tours and broadcast activities.
'YOUNGEST' Captures the Inner Self of His Real Name 'Kang Young-hyun'
The album title 'YOUNGEST' is a combination of the name 'Young' and the superlative suffix '-est.' Young K revealed his identity as his real self, stating, "I did my best for 10 years as DAY6, but I was actually ignoring the person known as Kang Young-hyun."
He confessed, "Kang Young-hyun is a person who is more lacking than Young K. He gets hurt, feels a lot of loneliness, and sometimes is petty or harbors bad thoughts." He also shared an anecdote about how he found comfort in himself by turning his experience of being hurt by friends' backbiting into lyrics.
The title track, "Shut The Door," expresses the sense of liberation felt when leaving a closed space through a cheerful sound. The first track of the album, "Marionette," serves as a metaphor for a life spent performing missions as a member of the band DAY6. For this project, Young K directly participated in the overall design, including not only the music but also the music video concept, color schemes, marketing, and short-form content production.
