KYUHYUN and Park Eun-tae bring Frankenstein's orchestra to Seoul

KYUHYUN, Park Eun-tae, and the live film cast take the Seoul stage

Super Junior's KYUHYUN and musical actor Park Eun-tae will stand on the same stage once again. Following performances in Daegu this past June and Macau in July, 'Frankenstein: The Musical Concert' will be held at the Jangchung Gymnasium in Jung-gu, Seoul, from August 1 to 2.

This production is a concert-style reimagining of the Korean original musical 'Frankenstein,' which has continued for over 10 years since its 2014 premiere. It is being presented as part of the 'Stage Concert Series I' and will utilize large-scale LED displays and a protruding stage.

The cast remains identical to the casting of last year's live film, 'Frankenstein: The Musical Live.' Led by KYUHYUN as Victor and Jacques, and Park Eun-tae as Henry and the Monster, the lineup includes Lee Ji-hye (as Julia and Catharine) and Jang Eun-ah (as Ellen and Eva). The four lead actors will each perform dual roles to preserve the characterization of the original work. Additionally, an ensemble of 18 performers and dancers will take the stage.

18-piece live orchestra and enhanced sound system

The key element expanding the scale of this performance is the live sound. Composer and music director Brandon Lee (Lee Seong-jun) will personally conduct the live performance of an 18-piece orchestra.

Utilizing the dome-shaped spatiality of the Jangchung Gymnasium, large LED visuals and a protruding stage have been arranged. The production aims to blur the lines between a musical and a concert through participatory directing that allows the audience to become part of the performance.

The musical 'Frankenstein' tells the story of the genius scientist Victor Frankenstein, based on Mary Shelley's novel of the same name. Wang Yong-beom handled the book and direction, while Brandon Lee composed the music. Since its 2014 premiere, it has served as a pillar of Korean original musicals, continuing through the 2024 10th-anniversary performances.
