The 'monochromatic' Kang Si-woo realized through a 3kg weight loss

Actor Seo In-guk shared his thoughts on the conclusion of the tvN Monday-Tuesday drama 'Going to Work Tomorrow!', emphasizing the sense of detachment from the protagonist, Kang Si-woo.

During an interview held on the 29th in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, Seo In-guk stated, "There is zero part of Kang Si-woo that resembles me." He explained that he tried to express the character Kang Si-woo as being "close to monochromatic," adding, "He is a character who lives within a set routine, and he has a more mature and self-sacrificing side than Park Kyung-nam from 'Boyfriend on Demand'."

To bring out the character's sharp image, he also attempted physical changes. Seo In-guk revealed that he lost 3kg, saying, "I wanted to express him as being firm without looking mean." He mentioned that he finely adjusted the 'sharpness of being immersed in work,' considering the impression his physical features could give when expressionless. Furthermore, he worked to increase the character's completeness, such as requesting help from his co-star Park Ji-hyun to correct his turtle neck.

Acting philosophy: "The process of building the relationship between the two is important"

Seo In-guk, who has mainly handled romantic comedy works, cited the 'narrative of the relationship' as his criterion for selecting projects.

"What I consider most important is the narrative that connects the two people. I value the process of how the two build a relationship and come to love each other," he said. He explained that he wanted to show the process of Si-woo, who seemed perfect, meeting Ji-yoon and growing by filling his deficiencies.

Seo In-guk added that when preparing for a romantic comedy, he views the character from a third-party perspective. He mentioned that if an action in the script could appear as a conflict element to viewers, he carefully adjusts his tone, expression, and nuance, and incorporates his habit of reading emotions through the other person's usual tone and intonation into his acting.

A spring day proposal drawn with Park Ji-hyun

In the final episode of 'Going to Work Tomorrow!', which concluded on the 28th, a scene promising the future of Kang Si-woo and Cha Ji-yoon was depicted.

Kang Si-woo proposed to Cha Ji-yoon (played by Park Ji-hyun), who was selected as the head of the TF team at Saeum Electronics, by handing her a ring. In response, Cha Ji-yoon also took out a ring. The two concluded the drama by foretelling a happy future, saying, "On some spring day, let's do it with me."
