Singer Hwang Garam officially released a remake of Ahn Jae-wook's signature song 'Friend' through various online music release platforms at 6 PM on the 9th.
The song is a remake of the Taiwanese singer Zhou Huajian's 'Peng You.' In 2003, singer and actor Ahn Jae-wook released a Korean version with lyrics by Shim Hyun-bo, which received immense love. Now, 23 years after its release, the song is being sung again with Hwang Garam's voice.
In this remake, Hwang Garam maintained the sentiment of the original while infusing it with his signature husky tone. From the understated intro to the rising emotional arc, he expressed the longing for an old friend through restrained vocals.
