Choi Sooyoung turns cruise villain beside role model Uhm Jeong-hwa
Choi Sooyoung takes her first villain role as Anya in Okay! Madam 2, joining Uhm Jeong-hwa and the returning cast before its August 12 release.
Actress Choi Sooyoung is taking on her first villainous role since her debut. On the 27th, Choi Sooyoung attended a press conference for the film 'Okay! Madam 2' held at CGV Yongsan IPark Mall in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, where she revealed that she plays 'Anya,' the leader of a criminal organization that seizes control of a cruise.

"I have long wished to try playing a villain," Choi Sooyoung said. "I was grateful to be offered the role of a villain who is playful yet lovely." Regarding the character setting, she added, "I wanted Anya to appear as a person with childlike qualities, so I shared several ideas with the director, and since most were readily accepted, I was able to act comfortably."

On set, Choi Sooyoung expressed her respect for actress Uhm Jeong-hwa. "Uhm Jeong-hwa is actually my role model," Choi Sooyoung said. "During a meal together, I even expressed my fan heart directly, saying, 'I finally understand why everyone talks about Uhm Jeong-hwa.'" She continued, "I was moved by Uhm Jeong-hwa's attitude of pouring out more than 100% of her energy even in the cruise filming environment. I was able to learn how to lead a set when I eventually reach a similar career stage as her."
"Uhm Jeong-hwa is my role model"
The film 'Okay! Madam 2' is a sequel to 'Okay! Madam' released in 2020. It tells the story of the family of former agent Mi-young (played by Uhm Jeong-hwa), who embarks on a luxury cruise trip and gets caught up in a cruise kidnapping incident. The main cast from the previous film, including Uhm Jeong-hwa, Park Seong-ung, Lee Sang Yoon, and Bae Jung-nam, reunite for this sequel, while Park Jin-joo, Ryeoun, and Choi Sooyoung join the new lineup.
Director Lee Cheol-ha stated, "'Okay! Madam' was a work planned as a three-part series from the very beginning. For various reasons, it took 6 years to make the second installment." Actor Park Seong-ung said, "We produced this to break the prejudice that Season 2 is less interesting than Season 1. I feel the story has become richer." The film 'Okay! Madam 2' is set to be released on August 12.
