From a 500,000-won year, Park Seong-ung steps up for Okay! Madam 2
Park Seong-ung co-produces Okay! Madam 2 with Uhm Jeong-hwa, cuts his fee and reflects on a 500,000-won acting year before release.
From an unknown period with a 500,000 won annual salary to a co-producer
Actor Park Seong-ung has returned as a co-producer who participates from the planning stages of a project after enduring 10 years of obscurity. In the film 'Okay! Madam 2' (directed by Lee Cheol-ha), which opens on the 12th, he plays 'Seok-hwan,' the husband of former agent Mi-young, and was involved in the overall production.

Park Seong-ung recalled his difficult past through a recent interview. Having debuted in the 1997 film 'No. 3,' he nurtured his dream of becoming an actor while watching Choi Min-sik's performance, but he subsequently suffered from financial hardship as there were no acting roles for 10 years. He revealed the situation at the time, stating, "There was a time when my annual salary was 500,000 won. That was how much I earned from acting in a year."
Choosing the 'Okay! Madam' series by cutting his appearance fee
This 'Okay! Madam 2' holds special meaning for Park Seong-ung. This is because the first season, released in 2020, faced the regret of being unable to welcome audiences just one week after its release due to the impact of theater shutdowns caused by the spread of COVID-19. In this work, Park Seong-ung is credited as a co-producer alongside Uhm Jeong-hwa.
To keep the series alive, he voluntarily cut his appearance fee. Park Seong-ung expressed his sense of responsibility to continue the lineage of series films in the Korean film industry, saying, "With the thought that this must absolutely be released, I took the lead in tightening my belt." In particular, he stated that he focused on the role of a supporter backing up the protagonist Uhm Jeong-hwa, helping to ensure the series could continue.
A trajectory of appearing in 15 works over 3 years
In the last three years, Park Seong-ung has appeared in approximately 15 works, ranging from the films 'Labang' and 'A Man of Reason' to the dramas 'Bloodhounds,' 'The Killing Vote,' and 'Dongjae, the Good or the Bastard.' He completed 'Okay! Madam 2' while simultaneously filming the drama 'Simu-myeon-myeon-ri-ri' and the film 'Land.'
'Okay! Madam 2' competes against 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' and 'Odyssey' in the summer theater market. Park Seong-ung said, "We are confident. In this heat, come watch our movie and enjoy a triple combo of laughing, being moved by the action, and more," adding that it is a movie that can be watched with family.
