Agent Kim Reactivated finale flips the fight with one judo move

SBS's Friday-Saturday drama Agent Kim Reactivated aired its final episode at 9:45 p.m. on July 25, 2026. The series recorded 20 percent viewership for six consecutive episodes and ranked first among dramas aired in 2026 in the 20-to-49 ratings demographic. Da-Jung Nam wrote the script, Lee Seung-young and Soeun Lee directed, and Studio S and Fantagio handled planning and production.

The finale centered on a last confrontation after Sung Han-soo, played by Choi Dae-hoon, Park Jin-cheol, played by Yoon Kyung-ho, and Agent Kim, played by So Ji-sub, rescued Ri Eung-ryeong, played by Lee Jae-yong. The stakes escalated when Ju Gang-chan, played by Joo Sang-wook, took their children hostage, forcing the fathers into a fight in which family and survival were inseparable.

Sung Han-soo infiltrated a North Korean resort and clashed with security guards before coming face to face with Jang Tae-san, a North Korean wrestling gold medalist played by Jang Tae-san. Jang Tae-san had once competed against Sung Han-soo on the Olympic stage, and he recognized him with a complicated emotional reaction. Though the two men shared that past, they became enemies because their immediate goals were opposed.

Jang Tae-san overpowered Sung Han-soo with brute strength and technique, driving him deep into the kitchen and putting him in serious danger. Sung Han-soo then shifted the rhythm of the fight with a relaxed expression, saying, "I run a taekwondo studio, but sometimes I teach judo too." He used a judo technique to bring Jang Tae-san under control, turning a scene of near-defeat into one of the finale's decisive action beats.

After Sung Han-soo and Park Jin-cheol rescued Ri Eung-ryeong, Ju Gang-chan escaped and revealed video footage showing that he had kidnapped Sung Han-soo's son Tae-hun and Park Jin-cheol's daughter Da-bin. He threatened them by saying, "If you lay even a fingertip on me, the kids die," pushing both men into a desperate struggle as fathers trying to protect their families.

The hostage sequence also brought out the force of what the drama calls the "Dad Universe." Sung Han-soo and Park Jin-cheol, who had usually bickered with each other, showed perfect teamwork at the moment of crisis. Their coordination under pressure proved the strength of that father-centered bond and made the showdown more emotionally urgent.

A pre-release video for the final episode of SBS's Agent Kim Reactivated showed Agent Kim setting out to save the children after Ju Gang-chan took Sung Han-soo's and Park Jin-cheol's children hostage. In the footage, Joo Sang-wook's Ju Gang-chan delivered a sneering line of admiration: "I was a little surprised that you could risk your life even for a friend's child." So Ji-sub, as Agent Kim, answered the pressure with an unwavering gaze and a commanding presence.

The final strike between these characters, along with the ending of the "Dad Universe," is pushing the drama's tension to its highest point. The finale ties the rescue mission, the hostage crisis, and the fathers' alliance into one closing confrontation built around both action and family loyalty.

Ahead of the final broadcast, the lead actors shared their thoughts on the series coming to an end. Through his agency, So Ji-sub said, "I sincerely thank all the viewers who loved and supported Agent Kim." He added that he remembered being moved just from reading the line in the script, "Dad is here. Let's go home now."

Choi Dae-hoon said the attention and affection from viewers had filled him with a great deal of energy and that he would work hard to return it. He also sent a message of support, saying, "I cheer for all the bespectacled middle-aged men of this era and their families, and even for the middle-aged men who do not wear glasses. Fighting!"

Yoon Kyung-ho also expressed gratitude for the response to the drama. He said he could feel tremendous love because so many people he met during the broadcast period warmly welcomed him and encouraged him.

The three leads each chose memorable scenes from the series. They pointed to the reunion with daughter Min-ji, played by Seo Su-min, at the end of episode six; Agent Kim's appearance in episode two as he left his wife and welcomed Min-ji; and the dinner scene between Agent Kim and Min-ji in episode seven.

As the actors delivered their closing remarks, viewer attention remained focused on the final episode and on how the story would resolve.
