Kim Hye-jun Shares Feelings on Her First Romantic Comedy at 'The Favorite Employee' Production Press Conference

The new tvN Monday-Tuesday drama My Bias, My Boss is based on the Naver webtoon Our Oppa is an Idol, depicting the office growth story of Nam Da-reum, who ends up becoming a real employee while trying to meet her bias. At the online production press conference held on the 28th, PD Park Ji-hyun and lead actors Kang Hun, Kim Hye-jun, and Cha Woo-min attended.

Kim Hye-jun transforms into new employee Nam Da-reum with idol fan heart

Kim Hye-jun takes on the role of Nam Da-reum, a new employee in the marketing team of the fashion platform startup 'Apello.' While Nam Da-reum is a neat new employee wearing office looks in the office, she shows a dual side by revealing her hidden fan heart after work. Kim Hye-jun revealed that she is challenging the romantic comedy genre for the first time since her debut, infusing her experience of liking idols during her school years into her acting.

A love triangle involving Kang Hun and Cha Woo-min

The central axis of the drama is the love triangle surrounding Nam Da-reum. Kang Hun plays Kang Ha-gi, a self-made leader and perfectionist CEO who built Apello. Kang Hun mentioned that his actual planned personality resembles the character, so he studied the actions and attire of a CEO.

Cha Woo-min plays Lee Chan, an idol-turned-fashion director at Apello and Nam Da-reum's 'bias.' Cha Woo-min stated that he devoted himself to dance practice even before filming to bring liveliness to the character. In the drama, Nam Da-reum is placed at a crossroads between her bias Lee Chan and CEO Kang Ha-gi.

PD Park Ji-hyun cited 'fan heart' as the point of differentiation from her previous work, Tomorrow I Go to Work!. PD Park explained, "The authentic depiction of workplace life in the original work and the sensations of having loved someone passionately felt very warm."

During the press conference, when MC Park Kyung Lim asked Kim Hye-jun who she would choose between Kang Ha-gi and Lee Chan, Kim Hye-jun replied, "Both are burdensome. I would rather meet a fellow colleague." Kang Hun and Cha Woo-min also confessed to having introverted personalities (I-type) and added that it is ideal to remain a fan who watches their bias from afar.

My Bias, My Boss will premiere on tvN on Monday, August 3, at 8:45 p.m.
