Ahn Hee-yeon is taking on her first weekend drama through KBS 2TV's new series 'Love Comes.' Her screen partner is Ha Seok-jin, and the drama places them at the center of a romance built on separation, time and unfinished feeling.

Ha Seok-jin and Ahn Hee-yeon to Reunite as First Loves in KBS 2TV's New Weekend Drama 'Love Comes'

Ahn plays Han Gyu-rim, while Ha plays Kim Moo-jin. The two characters once loved each other, but they parted under the weight of real-life pressures. Eight years later, they meet again, setting up a reunion story in which the past is not simply remembered but forced back into the present.

'Love Comes' follows people who have endured the loss of family and are trying to find their places again. The project is being introduced as a work that adds writer Lee Kyung-hee's distinctive melodrama sensibility to the family narratives long associated with KBS weekend dramas.

The new KBS 2TV weekend drama is scheduled to premiere in July. It will air as the follow-up to 'Recipe for Love.' Hong Seok-gu, who directed 'My Only One,' 'Beauty and Mr. Romantic' and 'Queen's House,' is directing the series. The script is by Lee Kyung-hee, whose credits include 'I'm Sorry, I Love You,' 'The Innocent Man' and 'Uncontrollably Fond.' Production is handled by Monster Union and Contents Ji.

Ha Seok-jin plays Kim Moo-jin, the owner-chef of an Italian restaurant. Kim Moo-jin is described as a man with both credentials and background, but after his breakup with Han Gyu-rim, he carries a deep emotional wound. He leaves to study cooking in Italy and returns after that time away.

Han Gyu-rim, played by Ahn Hee-yeon, is a woman who supports her family's livelihood while working at a side-dish shop. After her once-affluent household collapses, she takes on part-time jobs and domestic responsibilities, living under burdens that reshape her choices. She had to let go of her love with Kim Moo-jin, and when he appears in front of her again eight years later, her emotions are shaken. For Ahn, the role marks her first attempt at leading a long-form weekend drama.

The series is not driven by romance alone. Park Yu-na plays Han Gyu-young, Han Gyu-rim's younger sister who is only one year apart in age, while Bae Yoon-kyu plays her younger brother Han Gyu-o. Together, they fill out the present reality of a family that has fallen apart.

Bae Jung-nam joins as Jo Heung-sik, a figure who remains by Gyu-rim's side. Min Jin-woong plays Park Jeong-woo, Kim Moo-jin's friend and the representative of the restaurant. Lee Joo-yeon appears as fashion designer Jang Seo-hyeon, and Jung Bo-min joins the cast as Kwon Hee-na, an elementary school teacher.

The parent generation also comes into sharper focus with Kwon Hae-hyo, Yoon Yoo-sun, Ryu Seung-soo and Jin Kyung in the ensemble. Kwon Hae-hyo plays Jang Hoon-tae, the chairman of an apparel company, while Yoon Yoo-sun plays Go Yoon-hee, the birth mother of Han Gyu-rim and her siblings. Ryu Seung-soo appears as Han Seok-jung, a man who left wounds on the children and on Yoon-hee. Jin Kyung plays Hong Ok-seon, Kim Moo-jin's mother.

In KBS weekend dramas, the parent generation has often functioned as more than simple background, becoming a force that pushes events forward. 'Love Comes' appears to place that generational weight alongside the central reunion romance, connecting the emotional damage of older characters with the choices facing their children.

The official script-reading video first reveals that, despite the warmth suggested by the title, the characters begin from harsh circumstances. A side-dish shop, a restaurant, a fashion company and a remarried family are all set inside one story, creating collisions of class and family structure. Once the exact premiere date is confirmed and the main trailer is released, the drama is expected to show more clearly how Ha Seok-jin and Ahn Hee-yeon's eight-year reunion will meet the older wounds carried by the parent generation.
