Song Seung-hyun cradles newborn Ian in a tender New York update
Former FT Island member Song Seung-hyun announces the birth of his first son, Ian, after retiring and starting a new life in New York.
Song Seung-hyun, formerly of the band FT Island, has become a father. On the 10th, Song announced the birth of his first son via his social media (SNS), sharing his overwhelming emotions.

Song released photos and videos of himself holding his newborn child. "Our beloved sunshine has been born safely," he wrote. "Our Ian, who just came into the world and is still warm. I am so happy that Ian came to be by his mother and father's side." The child's name is Ian.
Alongside his affection for his son, he expressed gratitude toward his wife for giving birth. "I am still a lacking father, but since the mother is doing a great job, let's not worry too much and grow up beautifully. I love you, son," he wrote, before conveying his sincerity to his wife: "To my wife, who worked harder than anyone else, you've been through so much, and I love you."
A second act in New York after retiring from the entertainment industry
After debuting as the guitarist for FT Island in 2009, Song left the group in 2019 to transition into acting. He continued his career appearing in dramas such as 'Oh! My Assistant' and 'Black Spirit.'
In early 2024, he announced his retirement, stating, "I intend to leave the entertainment industry and leave Korea to live a new life." Following his marriage to a non-celebrity woman in June of the same year, Song moved to New York, USA, where he has been building a new life in the food service industry by learning the business at his family's restaurant.
