Yunho, Hyojung and Jaehyun reveal the weight of leading K-pop
On JTBC's Knowing Bros episode 537, Yunho, Hyojung, Jaehyun and Seo Eun-kwang share leader pressure, tears and trainee struggles.
JTBC variety show Knowing Bros will bring together K-pop leaders from several generations for episode 537, airing on the 25th at 9 p.m. The guests include TVXQ's Yunho, OH MY GIRL's Hyojung, BOYNEXTDOOR's Jaehyun and BTOB's Seo Eun-kwang, each of whom opens up about the pressure, discipline and personal turning points that have shaped their role at the front of a team.
Yunho, a member of TVXQ, discusses the nickname "SM Ji-bak-ryeong," which he earned through his unusually intense passion for practice. He recalls how he would stop by the company whenever he had time and devote himself to rehearsing, making practice a constant part of his routine. He also shares an episode from his military service, saying that when he received an offer to serve as a professional sergeant, he even contacted his company to ask about it.
BTOB's Seo Eun-kwang revisits a painful memory from his trainee days. He says he once faced the possibility of being removed from the team after being judged on his appearance. Even so, his sincerity and diligence were recognized, and he calmly explains how he eventually rose to become the leader of the group.
OH MY GIRL's Hyojung speaks candidly about the weight she felt as a leader. Because she cared deeply for the members, she found it difficult to speak firmly to them, and she reveals an episode from her time as a "Candy Leader" when she ended up crying during a conversation. Hyojung also admits that if she were to debut again, she would not want to take on the leader role.
Jaehyun, the emerging leader of BOYNEXTDOOR, shares how he felt after debuting. He talks about moments when he worried about the group's results after beginning activities with BOYNEXTDOOR, and says that overcoming those concerns made him throw himself into his work with even greater determination. His willingness to hold nothing back on variety shows has earned him the nickname "Muri-myeong," and Kang Ho-dong responds with interest, saying, "I don't think I can part with Jaehyun today."
