Shin Bong Sun leads comedy legends into Busan for Jeon Yoo-sung

'Jeon Yoo-sung Show Without Jeon Yoo-sung' to Honor the Late Jeon Yoo-sung

Comedy legends are gathering in Busan to honor the late Jeon Yoo-sung. The stage for this tribute is the 14th Busan International Comedy Festival (BICF), which will be held across Busan for ten days from August 21 to 30.

The centerpiece of this festival is the 'Jeon Yoo-sung Show Without Jeon Yoo-sung.' Conceived through the ideas of Shin Bong Sun and her juniors, this stage is a tribute performance prepared for the first BICF held since Jeon Yoo-sung's passing. Shin Bong Sun explained the purpose of the performance, stating, "Since this is the first edition without Teacher Jeon Yoo-sung, I really wanted to put on a tribute show."

Shin Bong Sun added that she personally reached out to Lee Hong-ryeol to add the weight of a senior to the team composed of her students.

The stage will feature Lee Hong-ryeol, Shin Bong Sun, Kim Shin Young, and Zoltan. Lee Hong-ryeol described this show as a greeting stage with the nature of an eve festival, reminiscing about Jeon Yoo-sung: "He was the person who gave comedians a sense of mission to never lose their laughter and to deliver plenty of laughter to the citizens living weary lives."

'Return of the Legends' as 'Gag Concert' Stars Unite

Executive Chairman Kim Jun-ho selected 'Return of the Legends' as the keyword for this festival. Colleagues who led the heyday of 'Gag Concert' in the past, such as Park Joon-hyung, Park Seong-ho, and Im Hyeok-pil, will take the stage together as the 'Galgal-i Gag Concert' team. Kim Jin-gon, an SBS 9th recruitment class comedian, compared this team to a "comprehensive gift set like a traditional Korean full-course meal (Hanjeongsik)."

Various teams, including 'Galgal-i Gag Concert,' 'Seoul Comedy All Stars,' 'Ongals,' 'Gag Concert,' 'Jeon Yoo-sung Show Without Jeon Yoo-sung,' and 'B-Class Hearing,' will meet the audience at this event.

From French Mime to QWER's Celebration Performance

Stages for international artists are also prepared. Patrick Cottet Moine from the traditional French mime comedy team 'Mime de Lyon' is scheduled to take the stage and showcase unique skills.

The opening ceremony, held on August 21 at the BEXCO Auditorium, will be hosted by 'Malja Show & Gag Concert Gala Show.' The program also includes a performance by the domestic drawing performance team Croquiky Brothers. Ji Suk-jin will serve as the main MC, and the girl group QWER will perform a celebratory stage.

The 14th BICF will take place across Busan from August 21 to 30, and ticket reservations are available through Interpark Ticket.
