KwakTube Joins The Return of Superman with 76-Day-Old Son Taesan

Travel creator KwakTube has joined KBS2's 'The Return of Superman' as a new family member with his 76-day-old son, Taesan. In episode 625, titled 'Dad's Lifelong Travel Mate,' which aired on the 10th, Taesan was revealed for the first time, and KwakTube showed his daily life as a novice father rather than as a traveler.

Taesan showed his gentle temperament on the broadcast, just as KwakTube said he sleeps from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. He did not wake easily at the sound of KwakTube eating jajangmyeon or at the sound of an electric toothbrush, and he rarely cried except when he was hungry.

In parenting variety shows, a baby's crying and a parent's panic are familiar scenes, but this episode drew laughs from the contrast between a quiet baby and a father still unfamiliar with everything. KwakTube called Taesan a 'filial son' and also mentioned the term 'unicorn baby' used by people around him. A unicorn baby refers to a baby who sleeps well and is relatively easy to care for.

Even while Taesan remained calm, KwakTube kept checking on his condition. The key point of the first reveal was not only that the baby was quiet, but also the face of a novice father who could not let go of his nerves even in front of that calmness.

Explaining his son's name, KwakTube said he could have considered a softer name but wanted to give him one that sounded strong and independent. He also said he hopes Taesan will have many experiences and live with his own thoughts.

The feeling behind the name also connected with KwakTube's past accounts on various programs of being bullied during his school years. In this episode of 'The Return of Superman,' that story did not remain a reopening of old wounds, but led to his hope that his child would not live impatiently or overly conscious of others as he had.

KwakTube, who became known to the public through overseas travel content, has said that meeting people in unfamiliar places broadened his perspective. He also shared his dream of traveling across several continents with his son someday.

KwakTube's joining of 'The Return of Superman' also marks a widening of his stage from travel content to parenting variety. If his previous content centered on unfamiliar cities, unexpected encounters and situations he had to solve alone, 'The Return of Superman' builds its stories from the repetitions and small changes inside the home.
