Four men who have spent their lives staying far away from hiking are thrown into the freezing cold of snowy mountains in midwinter. The stage for this journey is 'Take a Hike!', a new Netflix variety show set to premiere on August 18.

The cast features Car, the garden leading the group, alongside DAY6 drummer Yoon Do-woon, actor Lee Chae-min, and Tarzan from ALLDAY PROJECT. Gathered as so-called 'involuntary hikers,' they embark on a journey to find the answer to the question posed by the program's title: 'Why on earth do people go hiking?'

A raw survival story where Na Young-seok PD's crew meets Netflix

This project, produced by Na Young-seok PD's production team and presented by Netflix, has drawn significant attention since the planning stages. Regarding the intention behind the project, PD Park Hyun-yong stated, "Our intention was to create a raw variety show where the participants truly suffer."

Beyond simply showing the act of climbing mountains, the production team focused on capturing the vivid reality of the cast members placed in extreme environments. PD Park used the dual nature of Korea's winter snowy mountains as the core backdrop. He explained, "Korea's winter snowy mountains are the most harsh and rugged, but paradoxically, they hold landscapes more beautiful than any other season." The scenery of midwinter snowy mountains being released in the middle of summer will create a striking visual contrast.

Four distinct characters, from the solemn eldest to the quirky youngest

The released teaser poster and trailer hint at the arduous journey they will face. In the poster, the eldest, Car, the garden, holds the center with a solemn expression, surrounded by Yoon Do-woon and Lee Chae-min. Adding to this is the youngest, Tarzan, who maintains his sense of humor even during the grueling hike.

The trailer is even more realistic. The painful expressions of the cast members alternate with the majestic scenery of the snowy mountains. In particular, the scene where Car, the garden shouts, "This isn't it," directly conveys the members' bewilderment as they face unexpected levels of difficulty.

'Take a Hike!' captures the emotional shifts of members who are not seeking out mountains by choice, but are pushed into them by circumstances, as they overcome extreme environments. The program will be released worldwide on Netflix on Tuesday, August 18.
