Choi Jeon-seung Places Second on SBS Love FM Trot Audition After One Month

Musical theater major Choi Jeon-seung rose to 2nd place in the first round of SBS Love FM's 'Life is an Audition' just one month after entering the trot genre. During the ranking announcement held on the 3rd, Choi Jeon-seung secured a spot in the next round.

The key point is that his stage polish was recognized despite the short preparation period. In the first round broadcast on the 30th of last month, Choi Jeon-seung selected Enoch's 'Tonight', delivering a performance that preserved the atmosphere of the original song while adding his own unique color.

2nd Place in Round 1 with 'Tonight'

Choi Jeon-seung demonstrated the solid fundamentals unique to a musical theater major on stage. His reinterpretation, led by unwavering vocal ability and stage presence, drew praise from the judges, allowing him to advance to the next round in the upper ranks.

This result is particularly noteworthy as it was achieved barely a month after he stepped into the new genre of trot. The experience he built on musical theater stages proved to be a strength on the trot audition stage.

A Stage Challenge Dedicated to His Grandmother

There was also a family story behind Choi Jeon-seung's leap into the trot stage. He shared on the broadcast that his grandmother, who used to enjoy watching trot programs on TV, once said, "I really want to see my grandchild singing on TV."

Currently, his grandmother is receiving hospital treatment for a cerebral hemorrhage and is in a state where she does not recognize her grandson, Choi Jeon-seung. Choi Jeon-seung stated, "Even if she doesn't remember me, I decided to challenge trot with the hope that my song reaches her." On stage, he expressed that heart through refreshing energy and cheerful performance.

Growth Potential Noted by Kim Hye-yeon and Enoch

Singer Kim Hye-yeon picked Choi Jeon-seung as the most memorable contestant of this stage, evaluating him as the performer she is most looking forward to in the next round.

The original singer, Enoch, also viewed Choi Jeon-seung's voice and stage presence positively. He mentioned, "He has solid vocalization and a voice that could do really well even as an actor," noting his precise pitch in high sections and stable control as a singer.

Composer Algobomyeon Honsusangtae pointed out that Choi Jeon-seung is a musical theater major, advising, "While utilizing the advantage of musical-style vocalization, I want to look forward to stages that show more of the unique charm of trot in the future."
