Singer Park Seo-jin has opened up about the psychological struggles he has been facing recently. Appearing on tvN STORY's 'Namgyeoseo Mwohage' broadcast on the 13th, Park Seo-jin revealed that he has gained 10kg in just one year.
The true issue was not the simple change in weight, but the underlying anxiety. Park Seo-jin confessed that the pressure of not knowing how long his current popularity will last led to stress, which manifested as binge eating and insomnia. He shared the heavy burden of being a celebrity, noting that he often spends 1–2 hours trying to fall asleep due to racing thoughts regarding his future career direction and the struggle to hide his introverted personality.
Communication expert Kim Chang-ok, along with Pak Se-ri and Lee Young Ja, appeared on the program. Upon hearing Park Seo-jin's concerns, Lee Young Ja offered her support, stating that these difficult times would eventually become the strength to rise again.
Brothers lost 49 days apart, discovering family secrets too late
Park Seo-jin also revealed the harsh family history he endured during his childhood. He recalled painful memories of having to drop out of high school due to his family's difficult financial situation and having to work on a boat with his father; he remembered once getting off a bus and walking because his friends teased him for not being able to wash before boarding after work.
The greatest tragedy was the death of his two brothers. Park Seo-jin revealed that after his third brother passed away from chronic renal failure, his eldest brother also passed away around the time of the 49th-day memorial service. The eldest brother died due to complications during a liver transplant surgery; Park Seo-jin recounted the situation where he had to bring his eldest brother in an ambulance to the site of the 49th-day memorial.
During the funeral process for his brothers, family secrets he was previously unaware of were also revealed. Park Seo-jin, who believed all his siblings were raised by the same parents, first learned that his parents were in a remarried relationship through a guest who visited the funeral hall. He realized the fact of his parents' remarriage at the same time he saw his brothers' biological mother appearing at the funeral.
