Kang Seung Yoon says BTS Jin's chocolates made him a barracks hero
On KBS2's Immortal Songs, Kang Seung Yoon recalls BTS Jin's drill instructor offer, a coveted chocolate box, and his Boohwal stage.
"Be a drill instructor with me" BTS Jin's surprising proposal
Singer Kang Seung Yoon shared a special connection he had with BTS Jin during his military service. The KBS2 program 'Immortal Songs,' airing on the 11th, features the 'Boohwal 40th Anniversary - Artist Kim Tae-won Special.' Kang Seung Yoon, appearing on the show for the first time in about three years, heated up the atmosphere by sharing episodes from before and after his enlistment.

Kang Seung Yoon revealed that Jin was serving as a drill instructor at the training center where he was stationed. Despite not having a close relationship at the time, Jin reached out to him first. Kang Seung Yoon recalled, "Jin said, 'Be a drill instructor with me. I'll give you tips on how to get selected.'" He expressed regret, noting that while he trained hard to meet Jin's suggestion, he ultimately failed to become a drill instructor.

Jin's warm consideration was also revealed. Kang Seung Yoon took first place at his training center graduation ceremony, and the gift Jin gave him made him a hero in his barracks. Kang Seung Yoon said, "Jin told me, 'Aren't you working too hard? Don't suffer too much,' and handed me a box of chocolates as he passed by."
Since trainees were unable to use the PX at that time, the chocolate box Kang Seung Yoon received became a huge topic of conversation among his fellow trainees in the barracks. Kang Seung Yoon, who enlisted in June 2023, completed his service in the 6th Infantry Division and was discharged in December 2024.
"I hope to be a guest vocalist for Boohwal's new album" A stage that drew praise from Kim Tae-won
His passion for music continued. On this day, Kang Seung Yoon performed 'Last Concert (Reminiscence III).' His stage, showcasing deep emotion and explosive vocal skills, drew high praise from Kim Tae-won. After the performance, Kang Seung Yoon directly expressed his wish, saying, "I want to participate as a guest vocalist on Boohwal's new album."
The 'Artist Kim Tae-won Special' features Kim Shin-ui, Yuk Jung-wan, Lee Yeji, N.Flying's Lee Seung-hyub and Yoo Hwi-seung, and Jo Jazz, all reinterpreting the music of Boohwal. KBS2 'Immortal Songs' airs every Saturday at 6:05 PM.
