'Dancheong Homework' Continues Even in a Taiwan Hotel

Highlight member Son Dong Woon has not stopped practicing Dancheong, a traditional art form, even amidst his busy overseas schedule.

While fulfilling his performance schedule in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, Son Dong Woon continued practicing the basic stage of Dancheong, known as meoricho, in his local hotel room. He brought along sample specimens provided by his teacher, a Dancheong master, and devoted himself to constant practice even while traveling.

"Sophomore College Student Level" High Praise from the Master

This effort was reflected in the results during a meeting with his teacher, the Dancheong master. The master highly evaluated the sincerity of Son Dong Woon, who had been practicing even during his overseas business trip.

Upon seeing the results produced by Son Dong Woon, the master commented on his skill, stating, "It is at the level a second-year college student learns during one semester." In particular, the master noted that because Son Dong Woon practiced while visualizing the shapes in his head, his brushstrokes have become smoother and more sophisticated than before. The master left an evaluation of Son Dong Woon as "a person who does his best."

Son Dong Woon continued his practice through processes requiring intense concentration, such as drawing lotus flowers and the ibit (coloring) work, which are the core elements of Dancheong.
