Achieving 'Miss Trot 4' Second Place After 20 Years of Obscurity

A girl who began her musical life at the age of 5 by singing the MBC logo song has finally reaped the fruits of her labor after a 20-year wait. The protagonist is singer Huh Chanmi, who rose to the position of 'Seon' (second place) on 'Miss Trot 4'.

Heo Chan-mi: From Girls' Generation Trainee to 'Miss Trot 4' Runner-up, a 20-Year Journey of Resilience

Recently, Huh Chanmi appeared on TV CHOSUN's digital content 'Banlive' and revealed the arduous period of obscurity hidden behind her brilliant award. During the broadcast, MC Ahn Sung Hoon introduced her, saying, "She is someone who was a long-time audition veteran who endured 20 years and finally claimed the highest honor of 'Seon'."

Challenges Continuing from SM Trainee to Four Audition Attempts

Huh Chanmi's musical journey was not smooth. While nurturing her dream of becoming a singer during her time as an SM Entertainment trainee, she experienced the pain of being cut from the Girls' Generation debut lineup. Later, she debuted with the group Coed School, but also faced the ordeal of a hiatus in activities. Even through the ups and downs of changing environments while passing through six different agencies, she did not stop.

She constantly challenged herself by appearing on major audition programs such as 'Produce 101', 'Mix Nine', and 'Miss Trot 2'. Huh Chanmi expressed, "I am grateful to my parents and friends who helped me endure until I could reach the position of 'Seon' on 'Miss Trot 4' after four audition attempts without giving up despite numerous trials."

Shedding Tears Over a 29-Year-Old Fan's Story

During the broadcast, the atmosphere became solemn as a fan's story was introduced. A 29-year-old storyteller appeared, who had started trainee life at age 17 but had to give up on her dream. The storyteller shared her sincerity toward Huh Chanmi, saying, "Seeing Chanmi unnie stand up four times made me start a new challenge in acting."

When the storyteller requested 'Goose's Dream', which was an evaluation song from Huh Chanmi's trainee days, Huh Chanmi could not control her emotions and burst into tears. Due to this, the on-site recording was briefly suspended. After wiping away their tears, Huh Chanmi and Ahn Sung Hoon continued the 'Goose's Dream' stage, filling the atmosphere of the site with warmth.

In the following live stage, Huh Chanmi showcased her diverse musical capabilities, performing F-ve Dolls' 'Erekung Jeoreokung', Lyn's 'I Loved You', and Kim Yeon Ja's 'Your Mean Butterfly'. The content was released on August 8th through TV CHOSUN's official YouTube channel.
