Jung Ji Sun loses track of the wok — and CEO Nam catches it
In tvN's Undercover Chef episode 8, Jung Ji Sun overcooks Hui-gwa-yuk as Sam Kim enters the Pass Zone and Kwon Sung-jun hits a service crisis.
Jung Ji Sun's Hui-gwa-yuk misses the mark due to timing, earning a cold evaluation from CEO Nam
Jung Ji Sun, an undercover chef on the tvN variety show 'Undercover Chef,' struggled after failing to control cooking time.

In the 8th episode aired on July 9, Jung Ji Sun (undercover name Sunny), originally from Chengdu, China, attempted to make Hui-gwa-yuk solo under the guidance of her senior, Guo Li-hong. Tasked with conquering 11 different menu items, Jung Ji Sun, who was in charge of the single stove, focused so intently on the recipe and precautions that she lost track of how long the pork remained in the wok. Consequently, the meat overcooked, failing to preserve the unique texture characteristic of Hui-gwa-yuk.
After tasting the finished dish, CEO Nam watched Jung Ji Sun in silence for a moment before walking away. He then called Guo Li-hong outside the restaurant, emphasizing the importance of cooking time by stating, "That dish was stir-fried incorrectly. The texture of the meat changes depending on when you take it out of the wok."
Diverging fates for promotion: Sam Kim moves to the Pass Zone while Kwon Sung-jun faces a crisis
The situations of the chefs, now on their fourth day of undercover employment, also diverged. Sam Kim (undercover name Hee-tae), from Parma, Italy, received praise for his fish pasta and aimed for a promotion to the burner zone, but was instead assigned to the 'Pass Zone,' which is responsible for the final inspection of dishes before they are sent out by the main chef. Performing the duties based on his 27 years of experience, his chance for promotion was postponed.
Kwon Sung-jun (undercover name Sam Kwon), from Naples, Italy, was deployed to a large-scale kitchen catering to a group of 50 customers. Having expected a promotion to the burner part, Kwon Sung-jun is now at risk of returning to the junior zone amidst 10 hours of continuous service and orders.
Meanwhile, Jung Ji Sun had previously received mixed reactions for her K-Bulgogi menu, and in this episode, she fought to keep her position at the stove by preparing a secret menu for a revenge match during the staff meal.
