One second late? Jang Hang Jun sets the pace on Time Tracer Seollok
Jang Hang Jun previews his fast-paced MC style for SBS Plus historical variety Time Tracer Seollok ahead of its July 14 premiere.
"Recording Must End Quickly to Save the Staff" Jang Hang Jun's Efficiency-Driven Hosting
On the morning of the 14th, an online press conference was held for the historical talk show 'Time Tracer Seollok,' a joint production by SBS Plus, Kstar, Comedy TV, theLIFE, and GTV. Main MC Director Jang Hang Jun, along with actor Bong Tae-gyu, broadcaster Shin A-young, and history storyteller Sun Kim, attended to express their expectations for the program.

At the scene, Director Jang Hang Jun introduced himself as the "Lee Kyung-kyu of the film industry," revealing his unique hosting style. He emphasized efficient progression, stating, "Unlike the other cast members, I study the script thoroughly and prepare materials meticulously." In particular, he showed his determination to lead the program with speed to reduce the hard work of the staff and cast, noting, "The recording must end quickly."
Bong Tae-gyu provided a specific description of Jang's character. "Director Jang truly cares deeply for the staff and cast," Bong Tae-gyu said, adding, "If the recording is delayed by even one second, it's a big problem. He always tries to proceed efficiently because he doesn't want everyone to suffer." Shin A-young also referred to Jang as the "mood maker on set."
A Historical Pursuit Variety Show Traversing Official and Unofficial History
'Time Tracer Seollok' is a historical pursuit variety show that fills in the blanks left by records. Its goal is to dig into the stories hidden behind a single line of record and view previously known history through a new lens. It tracks the hidden sides of history by focusing on figures and events obscured behind grand achievements.
Shin A-young found the core of this program in the harmony between 'official history' (jeongsa) and 'unofficial history' (yasa). She explained, "While official history requires many supporting pieces of evidence even to tell one story, unofficial history allows for a bit more freedom to add one's own imagination." She continued, stating that the value of the program lies in the points where viewers can think, "That could have happened," or "That might have been the case," promising it will be a stage where viewers can let their imaginations run wild.
Bong Tae-gyu conveyed that the show is structured so that viewers feel like they are participating and conversing rather than just listening to a lecture. He emphasized the program's differentiation, saying, "To aid viewer understanding, unofficial history is presented alongside official history."
Bong Tae-gyu's Guest Suggestion: "It Would Be Fun if Tablo Appears"
The cast members' witty banter continued. Bong Tae-gyu picked actor Oh Jung-se as a guest he would like to invite to the program. He said, "It would be fun if Oh Jung-se appears. He is also close with the Director." Additionally, since Shin A-young is a graduate of Harvard University's History Department, he added that if singer Tablo, a graduate of Stanford University, appeared as a guest, it would create an interesting dynamic.
'Time Tracer Seollok,' featuring main MC Jang Hang Jun, who led the box office success of the film 'The Man Living with the King' with 17 million viewers, covers both Korean and world history. The program will air its first episode on the 14th at 10:30 PM.
