RESCENE Remakes KARA's Pretty Girl Ahead of July 8 Comeback
RESCENE will release its remake single Pretty Girl at 6 PM on the 8th, following strong teaser interest and renewed attention after LOVE ATTACK. The comeback continues as member Woni's dialect controversy draws debate online.
The group RESCENE returns to the summer music scene on the 8th at 6 PM with the release of their remake single 'Pretty Girl.' This new song reinterprets 'Pretty Girl,' which was released by the girl group KARA in 2008 as the title track of their second mini album, through RESCENE's unique color.

The teaser video released through RESCENE's official SNS on the 6th at 6 PM surpassed 890,000 views in just 22 hours. Fans are eagerly waiting as this is their first new release following the chart resurgence of 'LOVE ATTACK.'
Proceeding with Scheduled Comeback Amid Dialect Controversy Surrounding Woni
Ahead of the comeback, an unexpected controversy also arose. Regarding the expression "Museupno" used by member Woni, who is from Geoje City, Gyeongnam, claims were raised in some online communities that it was an expression containing specific political inclinations.
In response, strong counterarguments emerged that it was a common regional dialect, and concerns were raised that a rookie artist might suffer due to excessive interpretation. RESCENE has been preparing for the new song release by carrying out the scheduled comeback itinerary without any separate suspension of activities.
'Pretty Girl' Lyrics and RESCENE's Present
This remake does not stop at simply re-singing the original song. The original lyrics, "The feeling that it won't work is No" and "Walking confidently anywhere," resonate anew as they align with the recent atmosphere that emphasizes inner strength over appearance.
In particular, following the dialect controversy surrounding member Woni, reactions have emerged among fans that the original lyrics read like a message of support sent to the members.
Y2K High-teen Sensibility Following 'LOVE ATTACK' Chart Resurgence
RESCENE recently gained momentum as the title track 'LOVE ATTACK' from their 1st mini album 'SCENEDROME' climbed back up the music charts. After a period of not achieving distinct results following their debut, they built recognition through member Woni's YouTube channel, and subsequently expanded public interest with 'LOVE ATTACK.'
The original artists, KARA, also spent an unknown period after their 2007 debut, being called 'subsistence idols' for a while and having to hold modest fan-meetings in places like construction sites or parks. After member Han Seung-yeon made a name for herself by appearing on various variety programs, they created a string of hits with 'Pretty Girl' and 'Honey.'
RESCENE also creates a connection to the recognition KARA built in the Japanese market through Japanese member Minami. While KARA achieved great success in Japan with the choreography for 'Mister,' RESCENE has garnered attention through video content utilizing Japanese 'Gyaru' style.
The scene where Minami shouts "Geoje-ya-ho!" spread as a meme online, serving as an opportunity to promote the team. RESCENE has built a friendly image by participating in promotional activities for various local governments, including Geoje City, Suwon City, and Gyeongju City.
The 'Pretty Girl' remake is planned to create synergy with RESCENE's retro concept by capturing the currently trending Y2K high-teen sensibility. The plan is to deliver nostalgia for KARA to fans in their 30s and 40s, and the retro charm of the late 2000s to the MZ generation, with the new song set for release at 6 PM on the 8th.
