On the 9th, the five-member girl group RESCENE (WONI, LIV, Minami, May, ZENA) performed KARA's 2008 title track 'Pretty Girl' on Mnet's 'M Countdown.' While maintaining the bright teen-pop identity of the original, RESCENE added their own unique color through a refreshing arrangement and styling reminiscent of a grapefruit scent.
Original Artist Nicole Makes Surprise Appearance at the End of the Stage
Toward the end of the performance, Nicole, a member of the original group KARA, made an unannounced appearance, drawing significant attention. Nicole naturally shared high-fives with the members of RESCENE, leading the latter half of the stage alongside them.
After finishing the performance, Nicole posted a photo on her SNS with the caption, "I’m a Pretty Girl." Sporting a ponytail and a red halterneck outfit, Nicole's look evoked the fresh atmosphere of her early debut days.
From 'LOVE ATTACK' to 'Pretty Girl,' Climbing the Music Charts
RESCENE has become a sensation of chart reversal, recently hitting number 1 on Melon's 'TOP 100' with the title track 'LOVE ATTACK' from their first mini-album 'SCENEDROME.' The success of 'LOVE ATTACK' led to the chart entry of the B-side 'Pinball,' their second single 'Deja Vu,' and the digital single 'Runaway.'
The remake of 'Pretty Girl' showcased this time also reached number 1 on Melon's 'HOT 100' and number 4 on 'TOP 100' immediately after release. It has proven its steady popularity by hitting number 1 on Bugs real-time charts and entering the top 10 on Genie Music and FLO charts.
