Astro's MJ opens August with 'The Hangout' before first solo single

MJ of the group Astro is returning with his first solo single album 10 years after his debut. Agency Fantagio announced that MJ will release his first single album through various online music release sites on August 19 at 6 p.m.

This new release is his first official single since the 2021 digital single 'Happy Virus'. Fans are particularly anticipating this release as it marks the first time a physical album is being produced in MJ's solo career. Pre-orders for the physical album will begin through major music retailers on August 5 at 2 p.m.

August 19 Release of First Solo Single and Physical Album Reveal

This comeback was teased in a unique way using a messenger concept. On the 27th, Fantagio released scheduler images through official SNS channels, using mobile messenger screens as a motif. They visualized the comeback schedule by borrowing a chat list format named 'MJ Talk'.

Starting with trailer previews, a sequence of releases is planned, including typo posters, character posters, album previews, concept trailers, tracklists, two versions of concept photos, and music video teasers. Specific album titles and track information have not yet been disclosed.

'MJ Talk' Messenger Concept Teases the Comeback Journey

August is expected to be a month of intensive activities for MJ. Ahead of the new release, his first solo fan-meeting since debut, 'The Hangout', will be held at Seongsu Art Hall in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, on August 1. This fan-meeting, arranged to communicate directly with fans, will be held in two sessions at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Since debuting as a member of Astro in 2016, MJ has consistently pursued musical activities through 'Happy Virus' in 2021, the Christmas single '12:25 (CLOCK)' last year, and the mini album 'DICE' by the unit 'ZOONIZINI'. This new release comes 8 months after '12:25 (CLOCK)' was released last December.
