Na Hong-jin's Hope roars past 150,000 pre-sale tickets before release

Na Hong-jin's Hope leads pre-sales with a 45.6% reservation rate as Hwang Jung-min's thriller enters a summer box office race.

Na Hong-jin's new film 'Hope' is building massive momentum, recording overwhelming pre-sale figures ahead of its release. As of the 8th, 'Hope' ranked first in both reservation rate and volume, hitting a 45.6% reservation rate and 150,000 tickets sold. This follows the start of pre-sales ahead of its release on the 16th.

Hwang Jung-min, Lead Actor of the Film 'Hope'

'Hope' follows Beom-seok (played by Hwang Jung-min), the head of the Hopohang Port branch office in the Demilitarized Zone, as he deals with the reality of a tiger appearing in the village. To enhance immersion, distributor Plus M Entertainment is hosting an IMAX premiere invitation event. Running from the 4th to the 9th, the event offers winners two tickets each to an IMAX screening via a lucky draw. Winners will be notified individually via text on the 10th.

A Three-Way Battle in Summer Theaters Against 'Spider-Man' and 'The Odyssey'

Competition for dominance in summer theaters is intensifying with several major releases. 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day', set to release on the 29th, opened its reservations on the 8th to challenge the momentum of 'Hope'. Christopher Nolan's new film 'The Odyssey', scheduled for release on August 5th, will also begin reservations on the 9th, about a month before its premiere. All three films are taking the unusual step of starting reservations around 21 days before their release to secure early audiences.

Additionally, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's distribution of approximately 2.05 million 6,000 won movie discount vouchers, starting on the 8th, is expected to act as a variable. The 'Spider-Man' series, Christopher Nolan's new work, and Na Hong-jin's 'Hope' are set to engage in a full-scale box office battle fueled by these discount benefits.
