Director Na Hong-jin's new film 'Hope' has surpassed 1 million viewers within just three days of its release. Distributor Plus M Entertainment announced that as of 12:00 PM on July 17, the cumulative audience for 'Hope' has exceeded 1,003,960. This record is one day faster than Director Yeon Sang Ho's film 'Colony', which surpassed 1 million viewers in four days, making it the fastest pace among films released in 2026.

'Hope' drew approximately 330,000 viewers on its opening day alone on the 15th, recording the highest opening score of the year. The film garnered intense interest even before its release, taking the number one spot in reservation rates starting 11 days before opening and exceeding 600,000 tickets in pre-sales. As of 2:00 PM, the current reservation rate stands at 54.5%.

'Hope' is the new work from Director Na Hong-jin, who directed 'The Chaser' (2008), 'The Yellow Sea' (2010), and 'The Wailing' (2016), marking his return after approximately 10 years. The film received critical acclaim by entering the competition section of the 79th Cannes Film Festival and involved a production budget of over 50 billion won, the largest in Korean film history.
The film is set in Hopo Port, a fictional village near the Demilitarized Zone. It is an SF action thriller that follows Beom-seok (played by Hwang Jung-min), the head of the Hopo Port branch office, as he faces an unbelievable reality after hearing news from the village youths that a tiger has appeared.
