Alan Menken's Leap of Faith brings its miracle seller to Seoul
Show Note will stage Leap of Faith at Gwanglim Arts Center BBCH Hall next August, with auditions for Jonas and major roles open until July 26.
Korean Premiere Set for Next August at Gwanglim Arts Center BBCH Hall
Production company Show Note is preparing the Korean premiere of the musical 'Leap of Faith,' based on the 1992 American film of the same name. The production is scheduled to take the stage in late August next year at the Gwanglim Arts Center BBCH Hall in Seoul.

The original film was a box office success starring Steve Martin and Debra Winger. It follows Jonas, a fake revivalist preacher who claims to sell 'miracles' while traveling the country, as he settles in a small town in Kansas and undergoes a process of discovering what true faith really is.
The musical features music by Alan Menken, famous for 'Aladdin' and 'Beauty and the Beast,' and was reborn as a musical through the involvement of Janus Cercone, the screenwriter of the original film, and Glenn Slater, the lyricist of 'School of Rock.' During its Broadway premiere in 2012, the work received critical acclaim with nominations for the Tony Awards and the Drama Desk Awards.
Auditions for Major Roles Open Until July 26
Auditions have officially begun to find the leads who will spearhead the Korean premiere. Show Note is accepting applications until July 26, planning to select the core characters of the production through this audition process.
The selection targets include major roles such as Sam Nightingale, Jonas's sister and the powerhouse behind the revival meetings; Ida May Stevedant, the lead singer of the revival choir; and Isaiah Stevedant, a theology student who forms a conflict with Jonas. Additionally, the search is broad, recruiting for Onella Stevedant (Ida's daughter), Jake (a boy who uses a wheelchair due to an accident), as well as ensemble and swing performers.
