Lee Dong-wook returns alive, and A Shop for Killers storms Disney+

'A Shop for Killers Season 2', a Disney+ original series, is leading global box office success immediately upon its release. Having released episodes 1 and 2 on the 22nd, the work was recorded as the most-watched Korean original series on Disney+ worldwide as of its first day of release. It also set the record for the most views among Korean content in the Asia-Pacific region. According to FlixPatrol data, as of the 26th, it entered the top 10 in the Disney+ TV show category in a total of 25 countries, including Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Canada, Brazil, and Australia.

Expanded Action and Development

Season 2 deals with an all-out war that unfolds as the uncle Jeong Jin-man (played by Lee Dong-wook), who was thought to be dead, returns alive. This season's story develops as Ji-an's growth into the new representative of Murder Help intertwines with the survival secrets Jin-man has hidden.

There has also been a change in action style. While the previous season focused on daggers, this time various weapons, including long swords, appear. The protagonist Ji-an's action has expanded from being Muay Thai-centered to firearm action. Kim Hye-jun explained the character's change, saying, "If the goal in Season 1 was to survive, in Season 2, it is not to be defeated." Lee Dong-wook also shared, "Just defending is not enough. This time, I moved with the mindset of finishing everything."

Director Lee Kwon introduced a filming method where the camera moves 360 degrees without cutting scenes to increase the sense of presence and immersion. Under the direction of martial arts director Jeon Jae-hyeong, the actors showcase a more evolved sense of impact than in the previous work. The quadrupedal robots and drones from Season 1 have been replaced with upgraded humanoid robots.

Counterattack Toward Babylon and Cast

The core of this season is the all-out war against the global organization 'Babylon.' To collapse the core of the organization, Jin-man joins forces with Pa-sin (Kim Min), Jin-woo (Kim Yoon-seong), and Cheol-seung (Baek Soo-jang). He infiltrates the inside of the organization by disguising himself as the enemy's key figure, Veil (Jo Han-seon). Jo Han-seon performs a dual role, alternating between Veil and the disguised Jin-man.

Ji-an becomes entangled in fate again after discovering firearms and the Murder Help app on the boat of the village youth Woo-jin (Yoo Hyun-soo). The stage has expanded beyond the existing house to a secret base in Thailand and the Babylon headquarters.

The main actors from Season 1 have reunited. Jo Han-seon took on the role of the villain Veil, and Kim Hannah (as Min-hye) and Kim Min (as Pa-sin) have also joined. Jung Yun-Ha plays Kusanagi of the Babylon East Asia branch, and Hyun-ri plays the action character Kyu. Okada Masaki and Woo-jin (Yoo Hyun-soo) also add tension to the drama.

The work will release two episodes every Wednesday, with a total of 8 episodes being released sequentially.
