Eru bows low, then sings 'Black Glasses' in 4-year return
Eru returns on TV Chosun's Chosun's Lover, singing 'Black Glasses' for his mother and performing with Tae Jin Ah after his drunk driving hiatus.
Returning to the Stage via 'Chosun's Lover' after 4 Years
Singer and actor Eru has picked up the microphone again after four years. Eru announced his official comeback during the 5th-anniversary special 'Chosun's Lover Singing Contest' aired on TV Chosun on the 6th.

On stage, Eru bowed 90 degrees to the audience, conveying his cautious heart. On the 8th, he shared his thoughts via his SNS, stating, "As it was my first time on stage in a long while, it was a cautious and very nerve-wracking stage." He added his feelings toward his family, saying, "It was meaningful and I am grateful that I could show my image on screen to my mother once again."
'Black Glasses' for His Mother and a Stage with Father Tae Jin Ah
During the performance, Eru passionately sang his signature song 'Black Glasses,' which his mother, who is battling severe dementia, typically enjoys. He also showcased the chemistry between father and son by performing 'Okgyeong-i' alongside his father, Tae Jin Ah.
Through the broadcast, Eru confessed his mother's illness and his feelings at the time. "I never imagined that dementia would come to my mother," he said. "At some point, I looked at my father and saw how much he had aged. Seeing him stumble, my heart sank at the thought that he might get hurt."
Drunk Driving Accident and Period of Self-Reflection
Eru's hiatus stemmed from a series of drunk driving accidents that occurred in 2022. Following a drunk driving incident in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, in September 2022, he caused a drunk driving accident on the Gangbyeonbuk-ro in Seoul on December 19 of the same year. The vehicle overturned in the accident, and it was later revealed that he attempted to switch drivers. Consequently, he was sentenced by the court to 6 months in prison, suspended for 1 year, and a fine of 100,000 won. Due to this incident, he stepped down from the KBS2 daily drama 'Woman in a Veil' and suspended all activities.
During his period of self-reflection, Eru personally cared for his mother, who suffers from severe dementia. This past February, he revealed his daily life caring for his mother through 'Chosun's Lover.' At that time, he offered a tearful confession on the program, saying, "I am sorry for being born as my mother's son. I caused too much heartache," while bowing his head regarding the drunk driving, stating, "There is no excuse. I sincerely apologize."
