Three Keatings bring Dead Poets Society to a Seoul stage
Cha In Pyo, Oh Man-seok and Yeon Jung-hoon lead the Korean premiere of Dead Poets Society, running July 18-Sept. 13 in Daehak-ro.
The film 'Dead Poets Society,' which moved audiences worldwide through Robin Williams' passionate performance, is being reborn as a play. The Korean premiere will begin on July 18 at the NOL Theater Woori Card Hall in Daehak-ro, Jongno-gu, Seoul, and will run until September 13.

Set in the prestigious New England boarding school 'Welton Academy' in 1959, the work depicts the changes that occur when a newly appointed English teacher, 'John Charles Keating,' delivers a message to his students to seize the day amidst an oppressive educational environment that demands only entrance exam scores and success. This production utilizes the original playwright's script to maintain the narrative structure, while director Cho Kwang-hwa has redefined it with a Korean theatrical rhythm.
Veteran actors anchor the stage. Cha In Pyo, Oh Man-seok, and Yeon Jung-hoon have been cast as the mentor 'John Charles Keating,' who leads students to find their own paths.
Newcomers like Kang Jun-gyu and SF9's Jeong Chan-hee Join the Cast
Actor Kang Jun-gyu will take on the role of 'Charlie Dalton,' a character with a great passion for freedom. Kang Jun-gyu, who recently appeared in the drama 'The Legend of Kitchen Soldier,' stated through his agency, "I feel both excitement and nervousness as this is a project I have prepared for a long time. I worked hard to naturally show Charlie's honesty and energy on stage."
Kim Rak-hyun, Lee Jae-hwan, and SF9 member Jeong Chan-hee are cast as 'Neil Perry,' a boy who grows while resisting an oppressive reality. Kim Tae-kyun and Moon Seong-hyun will appear as 'Todd Anderson.'
The play 'Dead Poets Society' will be performed from July 18 to September 13 at the NOL Theater Woori Card Hall in Jongno-gu, Seoul.
