Choi Woo Su San fights 1% ratings with fresh seafood for RESCENE
MBC variety show Choi Woo Su San retools its July 12, 6:05 PM episode around Jung Ho-young's seafood recipes as RESCENE visits.
The Transformation of 'Choi Woo Su San' Choosing Cooking Over Hiking
MBC variety show 'Choi Woo Su San' is completely changing its identity. Previously branding itself as a 'hardship-filled mountain variety show' involving missions in the wilderness, the program has opted for a change after recording low viewership ratings in the 1% range. The production intent has been revised to focus on cooking, depicting the journey of five 'second-tier' entertainers attempting to conquer the variety show peak, rather than focusing on hiking.

The 8th episode of 'Choi Woo Su San,' airing on the 12th at 6:05 PM, will fully implement this new concept. Five members—Yoo Se Yoon, Jang Dong-min, Heo Kyung Hwan, Boom, and Yang Se-hyung—will transform into chefs to welcome guests with fresh seafood sourced that very day.
Chef Jung Ho-young's Special Recipes and the Appearance of RESCENE
The highlight of this episode is the joining of Japanese cuisine expert Chef Jung Ho-young. Having returned from a schedule in Mexico, Jung Ho-young takes on the role of a one-day mentor, passing on high-level culinary secrets to the members. In particular, Jung Ho-young enhances the quality of the dishes by presenting recipes such as flatfish mukeunji sushi and 'Mala Maeuntang,' which incorporates mala into the traditional spicy fish stew.
The first guests to visit are the idol group RESCENE. The younger members, including LIV, May, and ZENA, appear to show their side in a variety show setting without their older members. During this process, ZENA heated up the atmosphere on set by making revelations and ranking the members, claiming the leader WONI is "the most old-fashioned (kkondae)." Using the techniques learned from Jung Ho-young, the members prepare dishes like seasoned conch for RESCENE.
