A bride's hanbok wish spirals as her mother vows to skip the wedding

A Korean bride-to-be faces family conflict before her wedding after her mother says she will not attend if the aunt wears hanbok.

·

A bride-to-be facing her upcoming wedding has found herself in conflict with her mother over the issue of her aunt wearing *hanbok*. The storyteller, who has lived with her mother in a divorced household, has maintained relationships with her paternal family, but now faces a difficult choice as her mother stands firm, saying, "If your aunt wears hanbok, I will not come to the wedding."

Omar's Life Host Explains Wedding Hanbok Story

The bride-to-be who wanted the aunt and relatives to attend in hanbok

The storyteller hopes that her aunt and relatives will attend the wedding wearing hanbok. For the daughter, who has maintained a close relationship with her aunt, it was a natural wish, but her mother showed a stance where she could not even accept the aunt's hanbok attire.

The mother's reaction was rooted in long-standing resentment toward the aunt. To the mother, who raised her daughter alone after the divorce, the aunt remained a figure who evoked past wounds, and those emotions have now erupted over the issue of wedding attire. While the storyteller wants to host both her paternal family and her mother together at her wedding, she has reached a situation where it is also difficult to ignore her mother's declaration of non-attendance.

Cast members: "For one hour at the wedding, you must focus on your daughter"

Upon hearing the story, the cast members viewed the mother's attitude as an excessively heavy burden on a child approaching marriage. One cast member remarked, "Now is not the time to worry about grandchildren; you must first look at the situation where your child's head is about to explode," stating that the mother should prioritize her daughter's feelings.

Advice followed that even if personal grudges are deep, one must focus on the daughter, the protagonist, during her once-in-a-lifetime wedding. The cast members suggested that if it is difficult to prevent the aunt from wearing hanbok, the mother should instead be considerate so that she can shine more as the parent of the bride.

The daughter's wedding over a power struggle with the aunt

The cast members said that rather than being consumed by a power struggle with the aunt and ruining her daughter's precious day, it is necessary to choose to fulfill the role of the parent and bless the child's future, even if there is discomfort. Opinions converged on the idea that even if she has to "turn a blind eye," it would be the mark of a more mature adult for the mother to stay by her daughter's side at the wedding.

The concern remaining for the storyteller is not the hanbok itself, but preventing the long-standing emotions of the adults from entering her wedding venue. Ahead of the day that should be filled with blessings, the daughter is preparing for her wedding without being able to fully let go of anyone's feelings between her mother and her paternal family.
