KATSEYE's Transformation: Identity and Diverse Personas Revealed in 'WILD' Concept Photoshoot

The group KATSEYE has announced their entry into a new musical stage. The recently released behind-the-scenes video of the 'WILD' concept photoshoot captures the process of the members expanding their artistic spectrum by exploring various personas beyond their existing images.

New Faces Encountered Through 'Disguise'

The central axis of this 'WILD' concept is 'Disguise.' KATSEYE's creative director Umberto Leon explained in the video that the main idea of this shoot was to explore how one can divert attention and transform into another person through disguise. He mentioned that this concept shoot allowed the members to explore various facets they had not shown before.

On the set, the members experienced shifting between several personas in a short period of time. In the video, the members continued experimental attempts, moving between femininity and masculinity, polished looks and rugged looks, and softness and strength. One member shared her thoughts, saying, "I feel like I became 10 different people in the last hour," and "The experience of living as different characters for just 2 minutes is truly amazing." Through this shoot, the members confirmed their versatility and revealed that they are gaining greater confidence in their creative realms.

The Aesthetics of 'Projection,' Identity as Seen by the World

The method of visual implementation for the concept is also unique. Director Umberto Leon cited 'Projection' as another core element of 'WILD.' The production team used a method of projecting images onto the members' faces, clothing, and surrounding objects. In particular, through the direction of projecting various images while the members wore white clothing, they sought to visualize how the world projects the group's identity, illusions, and narratives.

The director also mentioned the ambiguous meaning of the word 'WILD.' He explained that 'WILD' can mean transcendence and is a word that leaves room for various interpretations in the process of evolving and moving. This philosophical background served as the foundation for the members to express themselves in their own ways.

Beyond Debut to Maturity, the Meaning of 'WILD'

The members agreed that this concept shows noticeable growth compared to their debut or pre-debut days. One member expressed her satisfaction, saying, "In the past, we only made one kind of expression, but now we are able to handle various expressions and concepts," and "This look is truly crazy cool."

This change is not limited to a mere physical transformation. The members said that because they have spent sufficient time learning who they are, they now trust their creativity more and feel more comfortable stepping outside of their comfort zone. This 'WILD' era includes all the looks that run through the 'WILD Heart' and 'WILD World' albums, and is defined as the stage that completes the group's more mature and authentic image.
