Silica Gel turns Ballad of You into a KSPO DOME Asia tour launch
Silica Gel release their third full album Ballad of You on August 20, then begin a Seoul-led Asia tour at KSPO DOME in September.
3rd Full Album 'Ballad of You' Arriving After 3 Years
The band Silica Gel (Kim Han-ju, Kim Chun-chu, Kim Geon-jae, Choi Woong-hee) will release their 3rd full album, 'Ballad of You,' across global music platforms on August 20 at 6 PM. According to their agency CAM, this new release marks their first full-length album in approximately three years since the release of their 2nd full album 'POWER ANDRE 99' in December 2023.
This album represents an attempt to expand their existing musical palette. Starting with the single 'Namgung FEFERE' released last July, the band has moved away from their signature cold, mechanical, dystopian sound to broaden their experimental territory by adding popular pop sensibilities and flexible rhythms.
Tracklist highlights include 'BIG VOID,' which sings of hope amidst emptiness through fast tempos and cheerful piano themes, and 'Molecular Gastronomy,' which combines intense guitar riffs with addictive sing-along sections. The album cover provides visual unity with an image featuring ASCII art placed on torn paper and secured with red tape.
KSPO DOME Solo Concert and Asia Tour Schedule
Large-scale performances will follow the new album release. Starting with the '2026 Incheon Pentaport Rock Festival' stage on August 2, Silica Gel will hold a solo concert at the KSPO DOME in Olympic Park, Songpa-gu, Seoul, on September 26 and 27.
This Seoul performance serves as the starting point for the 'Silica Gel Asia Tour - Syn.THE.Size: Ballad of You in Seoul.' Following the Seoul shows, the band is scheduled to embark on an Asia tour visiting Hong Kong, Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore, and finally Tokyo, Japan.
The four-member Silica Gel, who debuted in 2015 with the mini album 'Five Perspectives of a Suddenly Drunk Zero-Gravity Deer,' gained recognition through tracks such as 'NO PAIN' and 'Tick Tack Tok.' At the 21st Korean Music Awards in 2024, they solidified their musical reputation by winning in three categories: Musician of the Year, Best Modern Rock Album, and Best Modern Rock Song.
