A run of remake releases is shaping this week in Korean music, with soloists, vocal groups and idol acts revisiting familiar songs from drama soundtracks, earlier album tracks and major pop hits. The lineup includes Layeon and Lee Byeong-chan, B1A4 member Sandeul, veteran vocal group V.O.S, girl group RESCENE, So Subin and Hwang Garam.

B1A4 Sandeul to Release Remake Single 'What Should I Say' on the 17th

At 6 p.m. on the 16th, singers Layeon and Lee Byeong-chan released a duet version of "It Is Strange, With You," an original soundtrack song from the drama "Discovery of Love." Their version reinterprets the track first released in 2014 by Acoustic Collabo, keeping the song connected to its drama OST origins while presenting it through two new voices.

Layeon is a solo artist known for appearances on programs including "Sing Again 4." Lee Byeong-chan, who is currently active under the title "The Little Prince," joins her on the remake, making their release one of the first entries in this week's series of reinterpreted songs.

B1A4's Sandeul is also joining the remake wave. On the 17th, he will release a remake of Breeze's "What Should I Say." Before the official release, Sandeul had already introduced the song to listeners through a live performance on the YouTube channel "Jo Hyun-ah's Ordinary Thursday Night." That early live stage gave the remake a preview moment before its digital release.

Sandeul's remake arrives during an active period for B1A4. The singer released B1A4's ninth mini album, "SET," in April, and the group is set to hold its 15th-anniversary solo concert, "D-day," at KBS Arena in Seoul from the 31st through the 2nd of next month.

V.O.S will return on the 19th with the new song "I Made a Mistake." The track is a remake of a song included on Davichi's first mini album, "Davichi In Wonderland," released in 2009. For this project, V.O.S worked again with Kang Eun-kyung, the lyricist of the original song, linking the remake directly back to the creative team behind the earlier version.

V.O.S is made up of Park Ji-heon, Kim Kyung-rok and Doran. The vocal group debuted in 2004 and has continued its activities into its 23rd year, making the new remake part of a long-running career built around vocal performance and ballad-centered releases.

RESCENE has already found a chart response with its remake of Kara's "Pretty Girl." The group's reinterpretation entered the upper ranks of online music charts, adding a chart-performing idol remake to the week's broader pattern of artists returning to well-known songs.

Other singers are also presenting new takes on earlier tracks. So Subin has reinterpreted Sung Si-kyung's "More Beautiful," while Hwang Garam has released his version of "Bungwoo," the original song behind "Friend," which became popular through Ahn Jae-wook's performance.
