Park Se-mi and Kim So-yu Release Duet Single 'Is There Anything I Can’t Do?' Following Lookalike Connection
Comedian Park Se-mi and singer Kim So-yu reunite with their first official duet single 'Is There Anything I Can’t Do?' after their viral performance on MBN's Korea-Japan Top Ten Show.
Comedian Park Se-mi and singer Kim So-yu officially launched their music activities on the 6th at 6 PM with the release of their first duet single, 'Is There Anything I Can’t Do?'. This marks their official reunion through a music release approximately 1 year and 4 months after their duet performance of 'Jjin-iya' on episode 36 of MBN's 'Korea-Japan Top Ten Show' in February 2025.

The two had previously caught attention with their similar looks and voices. This duet is the result of a connection started on a broadcast evolving beyond a one-time collaboration into actual music production.
Kim So-yu's Proposal and Park Se-mi's Months of Deliberation
The starting point of the project was a proposal from Kim So-yu. Having observed Park Se-mi's singing and dancing skills while preparing for the broadcast, Kim So-yu was the first to reach out. Kim So-yu explained the background of the proposal, saying, “Since she is a very good singer and can also dance, I thought it would be great to work together if an opportunity arises later.”
Park Se-mi did not decide immediately. It took several months to give a definitive answer due to concerns regarding the costs involved in music production and the fear of being consumed lightly because she is a comedian. Park Se-mi stated, “It requires a significant amount of money to release music, and I didn't want to make it jokingly just because I am a comedian.” Her judgment that she must do it properly once she starts was also a reason for the delay in her decision.
Gu Hee-sang Composes and Writes Semi-Trot
The new song 'Is There Anything I Can’t Do?' is a semi-trot genre track that playfully captures the sentiment of being able to do anything for a loved one. Composer Gu Hee-sang, who has produced hits such as Young Tak's 'Why Are You Coming Out From There?', Kim Yong-bin's 'Gold Spoon', and Park Goon's 'I Hit the Jackpot', was in charge of lyrics and composition.
The song features a highly addictive chorus, witty lyrics, and a friendly melody. Kim So-yu explained, “While it contains a hopeful message, the chorus is so strong that you will find yourself humming it once you hear it.”
The two emphasized that this song is not just an event-based music release. Park Se-mi said, “People might think a comedian is releasing an album just for a challenge, but that is not the case at all. It is music made with energy and sincerity together with So-yu.” They also revealed that they chose to use their real names, 'Park Se-mi' and 'Kim So-yu', instead of a separate team name out of a sense of responsibility to compete through music using their own names.
1 Hour of Recording, Released on the 6th at 6 PM
While it may have looked like a meeting between a veteran singer and a novice, the atmosphere in the recording studio was different. Kim So-yu, who debuted in 2018 and is now in her 10th year of career, said she was surprised by Park Se-mi's skills during the recording process. While professional singers typically take 6 to 7 hours, Park Se-mi finished her recording in just 1 hour.
Kim So-yu recalled, “At first, she sounded uncertain, but the skill she showed in the recording studio was enough to not be ashamed of even if she were doing solo activities. It was to the point where there was nothing I had to separately advise or teach her.”
Park Se-mi said Kim So-yu's presence was a source of strength. She explained that while she felt the difference in vocal volume when recording her individual parts, when they harmonized together, she experienced her own volume increasing, drawn by Kim So-yu's powerful vocals. Kim So-yu, who was accustomed to stages focused on traditional trot, felt pressure practicing the dynamic performance choreography for this song, but she said she could finish it because she was with Park Se-mi.
Kim So-yu's experience was evident again at the music video filming set. Park Se-mi added, “So-yu's shoulder and hand movements were definitely different. Even in catching the face angle and managing expressions, a sense of ease could be felt from So-yu.”
The two met at the iHQ headquarters in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, and Herald Square in Huam-dong, Yongsan-gu, to share their thoughts on the project. Having gone through 7 months of preparation, both excitement and nervousness were high. Kim So-yu said, “I am so excited because so many people are looking forward to it that I haven't been able to sleep well,” while Park Se-mi smiled, saying, “It doesn't feel real yet, but since the release is coming soon, I feel like time is passing really fast.”
Park Se-mi built public recognition through her 'Seojun-mam' character on the YouTube channel 'Psick Univ'. She expressed her determination, saying, “I didn't know 'Seojun-mam' would blow up this much while I was making videos. Rather, other videos blew up. I still don't know the hearts of the public. However, I will strive to capture the hearts of the public. We will convey our sincerity.”
Kim So-yu explained the message of the song again. She said, “As the title suggests, the lyrics contain positive and hopeful content about doing anything. Since she is challenging herself as a singer from being a comedian, and I am also challenging a new semi-trot genre after doing traditional trot, it is a song made positively with the mindset that we can do anything.”
'Is There Anything I Can’t Do?' was released on various music sites on the 6th at 6 PM. Park Se-mi and Kim So-yu shared their wish, saying, “We want 'Is There Anything I Can’t Do?' to be a hit. Really, please.”
