Choi Yoojung Returns With Perfect Target After Four Years and Shares Guri Photo Studio Story
Choi Yoojung released her second solo single album Perfect Target on June 30, marking her first solo return in about four years. On MBC FM4U, she recalled support from a Guri photo studio that helped introduce her to more people.
Singer Choi Yoojung returned as a solo artist approximately 4 years after releasing her second solo single album 'Perfect Target' on June 30 at 6 PM. This album is the result of long-term preparation following her first single 'Sunflower' in 2022.
Participated in the production of all tracks for 'Perfect Target'
Choi Yoojung participated in writing and composing all the tracks in this album. The title track 'Secret Weapon' is a song based on retro sounds that captures Choi Yoojung's unique bright and witty charm, and she also directly participated in creating the choreography.
The B-side track 'Still Cute?' captures the honest gap between how the public perceives her and her actual self, set to a cheerful house rhythm with Shibuya-kei sensibilities. Choi Yoojung, who was well-known as a performer, took on both song production and choreography for this album.
'Daughter of Guri' anecdote revealed on radio
On July 1, the day after her comeback, Choi Yoojung appeared on MBC FM4U 'Kim Shin-young's Noon Hope Song' and recalled the support she received in her hometown of Guri, Gyeonggi-do. She said, "At the peak, there was a feeling of being a celebrity born in Guri."
Choi Yoojung shared that the owner of the photo studio where she went to take ID photos placed her face in front of the sign and filled all the size guide example photos with her own pictures. She explained, "The studio owner put my face in front of the sign, and when people came in to take photos, all the size guide examples were my face," expressing gratitude that thanks to that consideration, she could be exposed to the public even one more time.
Returning to solo after I.O.I and Weki Meki
Choi Yoojung was recognized for her performance skills while active as a member of the group I.O.I. As a main dancer, she handled powerful choreography and was evaluated as a 'hexagonal idol' who excels in both dance and rap, showing quick choreography pickup and strong lyric delivery.
During her activities with Weki Meki, she also led the group's performance by simultaneously serving as main dancer, main rapper, and lead vocalist. In a recent interview, reflecting on her recent activities such as the I.O.I reunion and her solo comeback, Choi Yoojung stated, "I am happiest right now." She also shared her thoughts that the time spent learning and being comforted by her members led to her current growth.
