Choi Sung-hoon, a member of the crossover group LA POEM, has confirmed his standing as a solo artist on the stage of the Seoul Arts Center. This stage holds special significance as Choi stood at the center of both planning and direction. He applied his experience from participating in the production process of LA POEM's brand concert, 'La La Land of a Summer Night: NEW ERA,' where he proposed directing ideas, to this recital. From the stage composition to the flow of the program, he personally designed his own musical color.

'Avec' captures the essence of French salon culture

The performance title 'Avec' carries the meaning of 'together.' Taking French salon culture as its motif, this stage focused on musical communication and communion with various instruments. In the first half, he delivered the characteristic elegance of classical music while breathing in unison with a Baroque ensemble. The second half featured a lineup of harp, violin, accordion, and piano to create a stage centered on French chansons.

The repertoire was diversely composed, ranging from classical music to chansons. Pieces such as 'Göttingen,' 'Je te veux,' 'Parlez-moi d'amour,' 'Après un rêve,' 'Hymne à l'amour,' 'Les Feuilles Mortes,' and 'Youkali' were performed. In particular, he delivered a deep resonance to the audience by singing Gluck's 'Che farò senza Euridice,' a song connected to his early days of studying vocal music.

Standing ovations and encores unite the audience

The musical dialogue on stage led to an enthusiastic response from the audience. Applause erupted from the seats after every stage, and toward the end of the performance, the audience rose in unison for a standing ovation. When the final encore song, 'Les Champs-Élysées,' resonated through the hall, the entire venue became one as the audience sang along.

Upon finishing the performance, Choi Sung-hoon shared his thoughts, saying, "Thanks to the help of many people, I was able to present a meaningful performance at the Seoul Arts Center. I sincerely thank all the audience members who took precious time to be with me." While continuing the musical journey of LA POEM as a member, Choi Sung-hoon is expanding his artistic range through solo stages like this recital.
