The Senior Hanmaeum Festival, hosted by the Korea Entertainers Hanmaeum Association, will mark its 28th edition on June 30, 2026, at Jangchung Arena in Seoul. Supported by Seoul Metropolitan Government and Hana Bank, the event will invite thousands of senior citizens free of charge and provide them with performances, meals and commemorative gifts.

Trot Stars to Perform at 'Senior One Mind Festival' Through Talent Donation

Now in its 28th year, the Senior Hanmaeum Festival has continued as an event that brings performances closer to seniors who have limited access to performance culture and puts respect and care for older people into practice. It has become more than a performance, sharing lunch boxes, drinks and commemorative gifts as part of the program.

About 30 singers from the Korea Entertainers Hanmaeum Association will take part through talent donation, including Hyeon Suk, Kim Sang-bae, Kim Yong-im, Kang Min-ju, Kim Guk-hwan, Choi Jin-hee, Namgung Ok-bun, Lee Myeong-ju, Jeon Mi-gyeong, Kim Hye-yeon, Moon Yeon-ju, Jeong Jeong-a, Andami, Kim Yang, Hyeondang, Cho Seung-gu and Seo Ju-gyeong.

Younger rising stars, including Kim Yong-pil and Kang Moon-gyeong, have also been specially invited, setting up a stage designed to bring different generations together. MC Cho Young-gu will host the event.

The Senior Hanmaeum Festival has been held every year since it began in 1984. It was created to bring enjoyment to older people who have limited access to performance culture and to put the social value of honoring and caring for seniors into practice.

The festival has become a sharing event that goes beyond performances by distributing lunch boxes, drinks and commemorative gifts. At last year’s 27th edition, about 5,000 Seoul residents aged 65 and older attended. That event also featured about 30 singers, traditional Korean music performers and arts troupes in a program that continued from noon into the afternoon.

Kwon Sung-hee, who has led the Korea Entertainers Hanmaeum Association for 15 years, said the organization invites seniors who have difficulty accessing performance culture free of charge and presents shows together with meals. She explained that the upcoming stage is being made possible by the voluntary participation of many singers.

Kwon added that so many performers are taking part through talent donation that it is almost as if nearly every singer who appears on Gayo Mudae is joining the event, and said this high level of participation has led to strong satisfaction among seniors.

Although this year’s festival will be centered on trot singers, it aims to create a stage where nostalgic singers and younger stars appear together. The organizers plan to provide performances and meals to thousands of senior citizens again at the 28th edition.
