The name BMK chose outside the stage... Teacher Kim Hyeon-jeong's two years at a school for the blind
Singer BMK (Kim Hyeon-jeong) is teaching music to visually impaired students at the National Seoul School for the Blind, sharing comfort through song.
Singer BMK (real name Kim Hyeon-jeong) is meeting visually impaired students not on stage, but at a teaching podium. Currently active as a music teacher teaching songs at the National Seoul School for the Blind, she stands before her students in the school field not as singer BMK, but as 'Teacher Kim Hyeon-jeong.'

There are currently 61 visually impaired students enrolled at the National Seoul School for the Blind. Most students are preparing for a new life after losing their sight due to illness or accidents, and many obtain massage therapist qualifications after graduation.
Two years of classes started through an acquaintance
The reason BMK formed a connection with the blind school was hearing stories about the school through a visually impaired acquaintance. Wanting to deliver comfort through music to visually impaired students, she directly proposed the opening of music classes to the school.
Having stood at the podium through a formal interview process, BMK has been continuing her classes for two years already. The classes are operated with 10 sessions per semester, a 20-session annual course, and she is sharing musical communion with the students.
"Music is something completed with the heart"
In her classes, BMK emphasizes not just listening to music, but learning how to feel it with the heart. She shared, "When listening to music, everyone imagines something within their own heart," and added, "I thought that the peace of mind or comfort that each person possesses might be necessary for everyone."
During class, she shares her musical philosophy with the students by saying, "Even if the song has ended, you must follow it with your heart until the accompaniment ends for the song to finally be completed."
The pink music and new challenges described by students
The real point is that students have begun to view their lives differently through music. One student, who usually felt the world as 'gray,' said after encountering music, "When I listen to music, it feels like pink. My heart feels comfortable and beautiful."
In an environment where obtaining a massage therapist qualification was common after graduation, another student revealed their expanded dreams, saying, "It's okay if I'm not a massage therapist. Now I want to try challenging anything." BMK encouraged the students, saying, "Accepting yourself as you are, and simply dreaming, is what is important."
BMK is a vocalist who has been called the 'Soul Mother' due to her unrivaled vocal volume since her debut in 2003. Having released her 4th studio album '33.3' in 2023 to mark her 20th anniversary of debut, she is continuing both her musical and educational activities.
