Song Ga-in and Kim Ho-joong Fandoms to Face Off in Dangjin Golf Tournament in July
SBS Life will launch Trot Fandom Golf Championship, a golf variety show where trot fandom teams compete in their singers' names. Twenty-four teams advanced from 34 entries, with finals tied to The Trot Show Park Concert in October.
Trot star fandoms will face off on the golf course, putting the singers' names on the line. SBS Life presents 'Trot Fandom Golf Championship,' a golf variety show where fans directly compete to defend their singers' honor.
The core concept is that fandoms are moving their cheering from the stands to the golf course. Out of a total of 34 teams that applied through the global fandom platform 'Star Planet,' 24 final trot star fandoms secured spots in the main tournament after passing the preliminaries.
24 Fandoms Advance to Main Tournament After 34-Team Preliminaries
Multiple teams applied from the fandoms of popular singers including Song Ga-in, Kim Ho-joong, Geum Jan-di, Kim Yong-bin, Ryu Won-jung, Park Sung-on, and Jang Han-byul. Some fan clubs even held their own internal survival matches to determine which teams would advance to the main tournament.
The average age of participants is 58.3. With 73.2% of all participants consisting of those in their 50s and 60s, 'active seniors'—the core consumer base of the trot market and a pillar of the golf industry—stand at the center of this competition.
9-Hole Match Play at Dangjin Flamingo CC in July
The main tournament matches will be held this July at Flamingo CC in Dangjin, Chungnam, using a 9-hole match play format. The regional distribution was evenly spread across the country, including the capital area, Yeongnam, Honam, and Chungcheong, and the gender distribution was also balanced.
The competition will continue for approximately 5 months. It will be released sequentially through SBS Golf, SBS Golf2, SBS Life, and YouTube channels.
Finals to be Held at The Trot Show Park Concert in October
The final match is scheduled to take place on a special stage set on the Dangjin fairway, in connection with 'The Trot Show Park Concert' special held in October.
The final winning team will be awarded 10 million won in prize money. In addition to the prize money, the winning team will be granted the right to appear on an SBS 'The Trot Show' special stage featuring the respective singer, and special benefits including support for producing 'Our Fan Club Advertisement' involving both the star and the fan club have also been prepared.
