During his middle school years, Kim Jong-jin was fascinated by the music of the rock band KISS, but on the other hand, he also dreamed of moving to Detroit, USA, to become a welder. However, the direction of his life changed due to his father's last wishes. Kim Jong-jin, who had planned to attend a technical high school, modified his career path according to his father's wishes and eventually chose the new path of attending university.
