Taeyeon's 'Manchanga' remake reaches No. 13 on Melon and No. 2 on YouTube Music MV chart

Taeyeon's Korean remake of tuki.'s hit "Bansanka" entered major Korean charts soon after release. The project, produced by Kangnam, features RESCENE members Woni and Minami in the music video.

Singer Taeyeon's Korean remake song 'Manchanga' entered the upper ranks of major domestic music charts immediately after its release. This song is the first music release of the 'J-POP REMAKE Project' started by music production company SHgold Networks on June 29.

Reached 13th on Melon TOP100 on the 2nd

As of the 2nd, 'Manchanga' reached a peak of 13th on the Melon TOP100 chart. It also recorded 2nd on the YouTube Music Korea Daily Top Music Video chart and 10th on the Spotify Korea Daily Top Songs.

Vocals were provided by Taeyeon, who has established herself as a K-pop vocalist with numerous hits. The original song is the debut song 'Bansanka' released in September 2023 by Japanese singer-songwriter tuki.

In Korea, it was first introduced to K-pop fans through covers by ILLIT's Moka, Choi Ye-na, NMIXX's Haewon, fromis_9's Lee Na-gyung, OH MY GIRL's Yubin, KISS OF LIFE's Haneul, ITZY's Lia, ASTRO's Yoon San-ha, PLAVE's Bamby, and BTOB's Yook Sung-jae. tuki.'s first concert in Korea was held at the Inspire Arena in Incheon on April 11 and 12, and approximately 20,000 tickets were completely sold out immediately after reservation.

Kangnam took on the role of project producer. Kangnam released the music video for Taeyeon's 'Manchanga' through his YouTube channel '동네친구 강나미'. This content consists of a Korean remake of tuki.'s original song with Taeyeon's vocals, featuring RESCENE in the music video.

Members Woni and Minami of the girl group RESCENE appeared as the leads in the music video. A music industry official, A, stated, “By adding Taeyeon's unique delicate vocals and sensibility to a 'proven IP' that has already recorded a mega-hit in Japan, it has secured public persuasiveness.”

A added, “The Korean remake increased accessibility for domestic listeners, and the appearance of RESCENE increased topicality and immersion,” adding, “It is a case where synergy was created by the combination of proven content, the artist brand of Taeyeon, and high-quality planning.”

Social Media Spread Following Teaser Release

Music producer B noted the speed of this project's spread. B said, “From the moment the news of the release came out and the teaser was released, 'Manchanga' spread so quickly on social media that no special viral marketing was necessary,” and “This is evidence that they are accurately grasping the trends and online flow.”

B also mentioned that Kangnam has built relationships by filming with famous Japanese artists and content on YouTube. He said, “If this is utilized appropriately, not only 'Manchanga' but also subsequent music releases will be able to receive good responses.”
