Composer Koo Bon-wook Unveils 'Mother's Song' Integrating AI Technology

This song is characterized by its use of AI Voice based on traditional Ppongjjak rhythms. The attempt to implement the tremors and emotional lines of a human vocal through technology was presented as the primary production method for the track.

Lyrics Highlighting 'Mother's Empty Space'

The lyrics deal with a mother's devotion and the sense of loss arising from her absence. As the subtitle 'Mother's Empty Space' suggests, the song uses poetic sentences to express the mother's love and longing that remain even as time passes.

The emotion targeted by the song is closer to deep affection than simple sadness. The flow of remembering a mother's life through her devotion and longing for her traces forms the core of the entire lyrics.

Combining Traditional Ppongjjak Rhythm and AI Voice

While the sound follows the grammar of traditional trot, it places AI voice synthesis technology at the forefront. The original song description stated that this Voice focuses on implementing a texture close to human emotional expression rather than remaining a mechanical sound.

The traditional Ppongjjak rhythm is interpreted as a way to contain both 'Han' (sorrow) and 'Heung' (excitement). The mournful melody and repetitive rhythm mesh with the theme of longing for a mother.

10-Minute Repeat Playback Targeting Listeners Aged 50 and Older

The content format also took the target audience into account. The song was planned in a '10-minute continuous repeat playback' format to match the consumption pattern of middle-aged and elderly listeners aged 50 to 70 and older, who listen to music for long periods.

It was also explained that the song is becoming known on YouTube and SNS as a track sought by those who miss their parents. However, specific view counts or rankings were not disclosed, and real-time performance was introduced as being in flux.

In this work, Koo Bon-wook placed the universal subject of a mother within the framework of traditional trot and used AI voice synthesis as a production tool. 'Mother's Song' was released as a new trot song that presents both familiar Ppongjjak emotions and new voice technology.
