Lee Seong-mi Opens Up About 46-Year Friendship With Yang Hui-eun

Comedian Lee Seong-mi revealed her special feelings for singer Yang Hui-eun on broadcast. Their 46-year friendship was highlighted through the recently aired TV CHOSUN 'Perfect Life' and tvN STORY 'What Are You Saving It For'.

Regarding Yang Hui-eun, Lee Seong-mi said, "She is the person who treated me to my first home-cooked meal in my life." She explained that Yang is a presence that provides great strength even without words. The core was the subsequent confession. Lee Seong-mi touched hearts by revealing her inner thoughts: "I wish Yang Hui-eun wouldn't leave before me."

A 40-Year Healing Trip with Moon Young-mi

Lee Seong-mi's thoughtfulness was also evident in her relationships with long-time colleagues. Appearing on the 6th anniversary special of 'Perfect Life', Lee Seong-mi went on a healing trip with her close friend of 40 years, Moon Young-mi.

Recalling her 70th birthday in 2022, Moon Young-mi said that Lee Seong-mi prepared a surprise party along with Song Eun-i, Kim Sook, and Kim Ji-sun. Moon Young-mi reminisced, "Every moment was touching." On tvN STORY 'What Are You Saving It For', Lee Seong-mi invited Yang Hui-eun as a 'Mat-seonja' (food expert) and reminisced about the meal she was served at Yang Hui-eun's house in the past.

Recalling Yang Hui-eun's warm consideration at that time, Lee Seong-mi confessed, "I thought it would have been so wonderful if this unnie had been my mother." Lee Young-ja and Pak Se-ri visited a famous handmade tofu restaurant in Ahyeon-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, to celebrate their connection with a 'home-cooked meal spread' featuring tofu hot pot and bossam.

Changed Words of Consolation After Battling Breast Cancer

Based on her past experience battling breast cancer, Lee Seong-mi also expressed her cautious heart when dealing with sick colleagues. Recalling when she heard the news of colleague Park Mi-sun's illness, she shared the complex emotions she felt as someone who has experienced illness.

Lee Seong-mi said, "If I am sick, I just have to endure it, but when a junior is sick, there is nothing I can do for them," adding, "Having had cancer, I am cautious because offering comfort through words can inadvertently become a wound." It was a story that for a sick person, a sincere attitude is more important than flashy words.

Yang Hui-eun also confessed her family history. Appearing on MBN 'Dangsin Cham Jota', Yang Hui-eun recalled the moment her mother was diagnosed with dementia about 7–8 years ago. At that time, the symptoms appeared to the point where her mother forgot the house password, and she shared that improvement is difficult due to genetic factors. Yang Hui-eun conveyed her affectionate feelings toward her mother, who has changed since the onset of dementia and tells her, "I am always sorry and thankful."
